Wikipedia

People love freedom. People want everything free. People like to read anything without paying money. Where they can find that? People can find that in the Internet, especially in the Wikipedia website. There are good websites that are Wikipedia and Wikimapia. In the first one people find a lot of information while in the second people can see the map of the world or any place they want to see in the map. People can write anything in Wikipedia, but this has some risks. Therefore, using Wikipedia should be controlled by the government because it is free, easy, and new information.
The first reason that Wikipedia should be controlled is the freedom of Wikipedia. People need the Internet, and they want to find good information when they open the net world. But some information may be wrong, so for academic research, professors do not advise using Wikipedia. According to Bilodeau (2008), “academics who ban students from using the web, Google, Wikipedia, or similar resources are doing those students a grave disservice. Students need to learn how to assess the relevance and authority of information sources independent of their media. They need to learn what constitutes an authoritative source, in academic and especially in their field of study. They need to learn how to navigate the complexities and ambiguities of the information at their disposal” (para.11). People can change any information in Wikipedia. People need something to protect their writing.
The second reason for government should control the Wikipedia is using Wikipedia is easy. Since using the Internet is extended in the world, anyone can enter his or her computer and open any page in the Internet. If anyone writes wikipedia.com, he or she will see the Wikipedia website. Then writing any subject in the research place, this person can find many things about that. According to Parry (2008), “literacy in modern society means not only being able to read a variety of informational formats; it means being able to participate in their creation, with Wikipedia serving as the marquee example” (para.9). Also, Wikipedia is very easy to use. The new generation can use it very quickly.
Finally, Wikipedia has new information. This information may be wrong, or may be put in this website for some bad goals. Therefore, some people do not use Wikipedia, especially for important information. According to Martin (2008), “under the current system, anyone can edit an entry at any time, which means that people often post inaccurate and sometimes malicious information” (para.5). Any person can edit any new information in the Wikipedia, and this is not good in the information field.
In conclusion, Wikipedia as a part of the Internet is very important if the people use it as a good website; it is good and useful. But some people in the world, alas, use the Internet to destroy everything. Some people look at the world as a farm that their parents own it, but in fact is not that. In fact is that life is for everyone who likes to live, not for whoever likes to damage the life. Therefore, government should put control not only on the Wikipedia website, but also on all free websites in the Internet.

Shell

There is fire. Oh, where? Beside the Shell gas station. A big accident happened on the road near a garden. Why? There is more oil on the road from a truck, which transports oil from Shell Company. Because of Shell, there are many problems that have happened in the world. Shell products cause pollution of the environment, Shell is a killer, and Shell is a Monopoly Company. But Shell is very important in the world. Shell is providing oil to people. People are using the oil for heating, cooking, and air conditioning. Shell supports companies with oil. Companies require oil to work and to produce. Shell makes a large amount of money from selling oil and other products. Shell made announcements in marketing with the purpose of marketing their products, but some people say they made deceptive advertisements without showing defective products. People expect Shell to provide them with petroleum products and still maintain their health and the environment. However, other people say Shell is one of the biggest companies that support the other companies of energy technology and people need the products of this company. In “Shell tackles energy challenges with cutting-edge technology” the author says “Shell has undertaken to tackle world energy challenges” (2007, para.2). Some people say Shell is evil. Why do they say that? They say that because the environment has become polluted and the health of its employees is not good. Therefore, governments should put more restrictions on Shell Company for many reasons. First, Shell is anti-environmental. Second, it causes disease for its employees. Third, Shell concentrates only on profit.

What is Shell? What does this name mean in the world? Shell is a big company in oil production. Shell is one of the biggest companies in the world that makes money every year. According to shell.com, it gives the definition of Shell; “Shell is a worldwide group of oil, gas and petrochemical companies with interests in biofuels, wind and solar power and hydrogen” (n.d., para.1). Shell started in the beginning of last century. In “Our history” the owners of Shell Company claim that “Shell companies first entered the chemicals industry in 1929, via a partnership in the Netherlands called NV Mekog, which manufactured ammonia from coke-oven gas” (n.d., para.1). Shell concentrates on money; it has a lot of money. Shell produces more oil to make more money. Shell gains some billion every year. According to Sterling (2008), “Shell's full-year net profit was $31US.3 billion (€21.2 billion), up 23 percent from $24US.4 billion, while sales rose 12 percent to $356US billion (€241 billion)” (para.17). Shell depends on crude oil, which is imported from many places by big ships. Shell buys the crude oil from the Arabian Gulf area, Nigeria, and other places. It buys the crude oil at a low price and sells it at a high price, so Shell makes huge money.

The first reason that governments should be put more restriction on Shell is environmental. Shell products are anti-environmental. Shell makes problems for people. For example, while trucks transport the oil from the store of companies to the gas stations, there is oil that falls over the roads and the force friction becomes very little. Therefore, many accidents will happen because of that oil. In addition, Shell gas emitted in the air, causing pollution of the environment. Kanter (2007) writes, “Shell causes 60 times more greenhouse gas emissions than the carbon dioxide that is reused by Dutch farmers to grow flowers” (para.8). That uses gas from Shell, a giant company, for causing air pollution at a large rate. If anyone is walking beside the place where there are oil refineries, he will breathe bad air. People want a beautiful environment, and they require preserving it by all means available. Shell and other oil companies that produce marrow oil cause pollution of the environment. There are many cooperatives in the world that try to protect the environment. Those co-operations work very well and hard in many countries, especially in Germany, to keep a clean environment.

Second, Shell caused diseases to its employees. Shell sometimes killed its employees. According to Weissert (2006), “Panamanian authorities have blamed it on an expired batch of glycerin manufactured in Spain. But outside experts are skeptical of that theory because glycerin, which occurs naturally in the human body and is added to many products, is highly stable and unlikely to break down” (para.13). Employees breathe through oil. Even if health insurance is strong, the health problems caused by the inhalation of oil cannot be redressed absolutely. The workers in the area of oil are unknown soldiers in the service of humanity, and everyone should stand in respect for them and treat them with the best treatment. Shell does not provide full protection for employees working in the oil wells. In “AP Executive Morning Briefing” the author states, (In Yenagoa, Nigeria), “Armed men have seized control of an oil complex in southern Nigeria owned by a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell PLC, authorities said Friday. No deaths were reported but one man was shot in the overnight attack on the facility, an operating base that houses staff and stores equipment, said Joshua Benemesia, a local chief who has mediated hostage negotiations in Nigeria's oil-rich delta region” (2008, para.7). Shell does not care for its employees, or whether they lived or died.

Finally, not only is Shell anti-environment, and it causes disease for its employees, but also it concentrates only on profit. Shell, which is like any other big business company in the world, will have as an objective material profit. It is not surprising permission of the hard material profit. But a lot of people say that many of their profits and prices are very high. Shell benefited from the capitalist system to achieve very high profits. In “Technology and the Oil Chemicals Advantage” the author says “Maintaining that leading edge calls for improvements in existing processes, plus the development of next-generation technologies that will utilise feedstocks from more sources, at a lower cost and with a reduced environmental impact” (2006, para.2). Shell claims that, but if you look to the price of Shell product, it is high. In last two years, Shell investigates huge money. According to Krauss (2007), “Exxon and Shell Report Record Profits for 2006” the writer says “Shell reported a 21 percent rise in its fourth-quarter earnings, to $5.28 billion. That was mostly a result of a 4.1 percent increase in daily production of oil, to 3.65 million barrels, in the quarter. The company also continued to profit from its superior marketing and refining ability outside the United States” (para.18). In 2007, Shell makes more profit. In “Shell posts $27.6 billion profit in 2007” the writer says “Royal Dutch Shell reignited anger over excessive profits today after revealing it made $27.6 billion (£13.9 billion) in 2007 - a new record for a UK company” (2008, para.2). Shell investigates more profit and it is from the list which has the biggest companies that get more profit in the world.

Opponents of more restrictions on Shell say Shell is very good for some reasons: it provides the people with oil and people can use the oil for heating and air conditioning. Also Shell supported the companies-especially information technology companies- with oil to continue and produce. Shell can do that since it produces more oil. According to “Shell tackles energy challenges with cutting-edge technology” (2007), “Shell produces more oil and gas than any other private energy company and serves more than 25 million retail customers every day” (para.4). People believe that Shell presents great services to them for energy. In Shell website, Shell Company claims that “We help meet global energy demand in economically, environmentally and socially responsible ways.” Shell can do that since it has more money, but it does not do that. Shell shares projects to gain money. According to “Shell CEO defends strong profits” (2006), the interviewer says “we have to demonstrate clearly why it is to the advantage, for example of governments, to work with Shell and that can be to their advantage because we can execute projects at lower costs or we can recover the oil better or we have new technologies. We have clearly to demonstrate that it is always to the advantage of the governments to work with Shell. And if we do that then our future looks okay” (para.13). Some people say Shell can construct projects to solve the unemployment problem. A lot of young people have dreams to work with big companies like Shell. Those young people may be sad after a few months when they work in difficult places without security.

In conclusion, Shell is anti-environmental and anti-health of humans. Also Shell is greedy. Therefore, Governments must put more restrictions on Shell to become a good company. Shell could be a good company if it is not concentrated only on profit. It should encourage other companies to give a little money from profits to help people in their life. It can help people by constructing projects, making high quality products, and decreasing the price. Shell must help the young people who seek jobs by making a project for them. If Shell gives 2% of its profit to a co-operative society, it will help them to do some project and it will be better than another company. Shell is killing its employees; Shell focuses on profit without any responsibility for its employees. Shell can increase the security precautions to protect its employees. All people want to live in peace and security in everything. They want to satisfy food security and availability of fuel at reasonable prices for all.

Shell and Energy

In Shell tackles energy challenges with cutting-edge technology (2007), the author says that Shell has an important role to play for energy chemicals in the world. He explains that this world has a dilemma in oil. He mentions that there is a conference that was held in Kuwait from October 22-25th, 2007; this conference discussed the problem and solution of energy sources. Shell offered to provide technologies. Shell is one of the international oil production companies. The author says that Shell can create new designs for energy command. The author talks about Shell in the Middle East, and there have been many conferences in the last 100 years. Shell has succeeded in the world, especially in the areas of technology. Shell looks now to develop its energy production.

Energy is life these days, is it not? Can people travel from overseas to the US without energy? Can people have the development of technology without energy? The answer of the last two questions is no; people cannot do or have that. Energy is very important in life. Energy depends on oil, but the oil will finish in the future. Therefore, scientists must seek alternative energy. Shell is one of the biggest companies in the world that has profits from oil, and when the oil fades away, Shell will be bankrupt if it does not find an alternative. Shell Company should be very important for energy for many reasons: it should keep producing oil, keep the environment, and encourage investments in new technology.

First, Shell Company produces a lot of oil, which is essential in the world now. In the 21st century, the demand for oil will be increased. Therefore, Shell can produce more oil to cover all demands, and then it can be satisfied with more profits from that. Shell can produce more energy from oil and develop new sources. Energy is very important for people; it is important for cooking, heating, and air conditioning. If Shell produces more energy, it will be satisfied with more profits.

Moreover, Shell keeps the environment. Because of high quality oil in Shell, it keeps the environment clean. Using many services that depend on oil changes climate. Shell holds all constituents to make many studies about our climate. Shell is using a good machine to reach its production to the people. For example, Shell uses good ships to transport crude oil from the original source, so no oil falls over the water. Therefore, Shell helps people by keeping the environment.

Finally, Shell encourages investments in new technology by making many studies. People need solutions for producing oil. Shell rivals many companies in the world by giving the best product. Technology requires the best and fastest production. For example, new communications require energy and oil to give people the best service when they use cell phone, Internet, or mail.

In conclusion, Shell is one of the biggest companies of the world. Shell saves energy to produce energy. Shell will be the best company in the world in the future because it has many branches in the world and gives the people many good services with a good price. People want to see many companies like Shell and a rivalry between them. That is because if there are more good companies, the product becomes higher quality and the price goes down.

Strong Profit

In Shell CEO defends strong profits (2006), the author says that the surging price of oil will increase too much. He refers that to lack of security circumstances. Some big companies, Shell one of them, were warned about high prices, and they were worried. In Shell, they invest their profit? also they want to produce oil and gas. In this world, the big challenge is energy. He explains that Shell has big resources in energy. Therefore, Shell can permanent any project they want it. Shell can reserve millions of barrels. Shell can help the government with some projects by recovering what they need from oil, or it can give government money for a huge project. The author gives tow examples, first Shell trying to cover all worlds. They negotiated the government of Venezuela. After negotiation, Shell has a good platform. The second example is about any entrepreneur, Shell is concerned as a good entrepreneur.

The world is losing its oil? People need heating and air conditioning? People need energy and what shall they do? Be quiet, this will not happen now; this may happen in the future. Now people have oil and they have air conditioning for the hot part of the summer and they have heating for the cold of the winter. There are many big companies for oil. Shell is one of the biggest companies in the world. Shell should help to solve the problem of lack of energy in the world for many reasons; it can select projects, decrease the surging price, and construct a big factory for industry.

First, Shell can select many projects to help people and make more money from the income. Shell can perform the project quickly. Shell has more money since it has more profits. Therefore, Shell can help people by making some projects and taking many employees for these projects. Shell can make small works like tailors works. Shell can get many ideas from the people when Shell starts to do these projects. Shell can help the people by constructing many centers for health and it would be free for poor people.

The second reason that Shell can solve the problem of lack of energy is that Shell can help to decrease the price in the world. It can make some pressure to the countries that produce the oil to decrease the price and to increase the quantity of oil production. Shell can support the scientists by trying to find another resource for energy and by giving them more money for their research. Shell contract with scientists about these researches, its for Shell only. Its reserved for Shell. Shell is the only useful from researches.

Finally, Shell can construct many factories to help people and communities. Shell can help governments with many projects by giving them money to perform many things to help their population. Shell can give this money as loans or as contributions. It can make a good advertisement for good candidates for president or members of parliaments. Factories will give Shell more money since there are profits.

In conclusion, oil is very important in this world for many things. People need oil for traveling, heating, and air conditioning. Many people use oil from Shell many times for their cars. It has high quality oil. Even though Shell has an expensive price for oil, it is one of the best companies in the world for oil. People need help these days, especially in the poor countries. People hope to live in this life with good health. If they have a good job, they can interesting with their families.

The World Becomes Small Village

According to Twist (2005) in her article, "Controversy blight UN net summit there is some countries which want to put some restriction over freedom of speech. She says that the summit on the information will talk about closing the technology gap between the countries rich or poor. The author explains that some countries are suffering from lack of funding. The US delegation who attended the United Nation’s largest ever summit was disappointed by the government of Tunis. They started with a law for censorship. Also, Chinese police use the internet against criminals and they use it for economics. On cyber security, it is difficult for any government to tackle any person who wrote in any forum.

Look! There is a revolution? What is that? Is there blood? No, when people listen to the news and hear the word revolution, they directly imagine that there is blood and killing. This revolution is different; this revolution is in information technology. The free world want to open the technology for every one, but some countries put many barriers in front of their populations. These governments use martial law to ban anything against their personal benefits. Therefore, using internet should not be banned anyway for many reasons; it gives much information for scientific research, it helps the police to catch the criminals, and people do trading with the internet.

First, researchers, in any country, are looking for much information to support their research. They want to find some information faster and more easily. For example, if one researcher needs a new article in any subject; he can reach it easily by using internet. But if the government in his country abolishes the internet, what shall the researcher do? Using internet gives the researchers many benefits; they can find any article which they want easily and faster than using normal mail.

The second reason that internet should be allowed is that the internet will help the police to catch the criminals. For example, if one criminal tries to cross the border, they can catch him since the police put criminal’s name on the internet and this name is known by all police. Police can distribute the name of criminals to all security centers to protect the people from the criminals quickly and easier by using the internet.

Finally, internet helps the people to make international trading. For example, anyone can observe stock markets and he can sell and buy many shares by using internet. Dealers can buy and sell by internet. They can save time and more money from that. People use many websites for electronic trading. For example, there is a good website whose name is eBay which contain many things like books, cameras, cell phones, and more.

In conclusion, people hope to see and read everything without any restrictions. People want to see the world as a small village without any gap between rich and poor. They want equality in all things, like learning, health, and freedom. So, internet must be free to all people to take information, to help police, and to help dealers to do good trading.

The Green Prairies

Look! The land becomes green, no hungry people in the world? Good, what is happen? The world tends to sustainable agriculture. The green revolution extended in the world, this mean the land becomes green because the people return to agriculture. Actually, there are many hungry people in this world. Therefore, we need the solution. We must use the technology development to feed hundreds millions of hungry people. How we can use it? Sustainable agriculture is the best domain that we can use technology development to produce food. We need to product different kinds of food, especially corn, wheat, rice and beans. So many researchers requested from governments to support agriculture field. If any country uses sustainable agriculture, it wills independence and satisfaction by itself. In Rosenberg’s (2007) article, “Oil and Food Do Not Mix,” he says “agriculture’s effect on your every day lives and why it’s simply fun to eat” (para.7). Governments should be encourage and support the farmers in their countries to use sustainable agriculture for many reasons: sustainable agriculture gives people more good food for healthy, it is give them sufficient food, and more using sustainable agriculture will decreases the price of food.

In “Sustainable Agricul Ture” the author states “Sustainable agriculture is the successful management of resources for agriculture to satisfy changing human needs while maintaining or enhancing the quality of the environment and conserving the natural resources” (2006, para.1). This is the definition of sustainable agriculture. Sustainable agriculture produces abundant food without depleting the earth’s resources or polluting its environment. According to Bulletin (n.d.), “”Exploring Sustainability in Agriculture" defines sustainable agriculture by providing snapshots of different producers who apply sustainable principles on their farms and ranches” ("Exploring Sustainability in Agriculture", para.1). According to Dufour and Baier (2006) in their article, Organic Food Production, Consumption in United States Discussed; USINFO Webchat transcript, July 20, “Sustainable agriculture has three legs to stand up: 1) it is economically viable, so that a farmer can make enough money to make a decent living for he/she and their family, 2) it is environmentally sustainable—it must at least preserve the ecological assets, such as soil, clean water, air, plant and animal resources, that make farming possible, and 3) it should be socially just—meaning that workers on farms (including the farmer) can make a living, perhaps even have adequate health insurance” (p.3). Agriculture has changed since 1950; in the past, farmers used initial machines to plow the land. This kind of machines cannot accompany with the development in the world and the rapidly increasing of the population. Therefore, they replaced ancient tools with new machine to get those most, fastest, and easily product. Farmer used chemical materials to produce more food. In 20th century, farms are biological systems, not mechanical ones. Since population need high production, the industrial model has degraded soil and water, reduces the biodiversity that is a key element to food security.

The first reason for using sustainable agriculture creates good food for people to be healthy. There are many diseases are spread in the world now because bad food is eaten by people. Naturally delicious food is created with care from healthy plants and animals. Farmer who uses sustainable agriculture does not use chemical fertilizer to keep soil healthy. Leahy’s (2006) article “Development: Want to Save the World? Go Organic” says that “Organic and other forms of sustainable agro-ecology do not depend on chemical fertilizers, so they must find other ways to enrich soil and keep it that way. That also means there are more minerals and other nutrients in the soil so … food quality high” (para.9). In addition, farmer who uses sustainable agriculture does not use chemical pesticide. Miller (2004) claims, “killing of natural predators and parasites that keep pest species under control. With its natural enemies out of the way, a rapidly reproducing insect pest species can make a strong comeback only days or weeks after initially being controlled” (p.48). Farmers can uses good sources of water and lands to product good food for people. Using these sources, jobs are founded and poverty further decrease.

Second, sustainable agriculture give sufficient food to the people. Growth of population in the world increases very quickly, so we need sufficient food to protect them from hunger. Many countries have big land and natural sources, but they cannot use its very well. So these countries need help from some organization which are interested in agriculture. Unfortunately, there are many hunger and thirsty people in this world. We saw in television news many people are very hungry in Africa, South Asia, and in South America. According to Wood (2004) in his article, “Policies, investments, incentives and GM crops” “demand is growing, rapidly in some places, so farmers need to increase the amount they produce from a given area of land- otherwise we’ll expand agriculture land use and destroy more habitats and biodiversity” (p.3). More food to people, no hunger in the world and more equity between the people, all these things are very interesting. We need to protect people from starvations. According to “Community health responsibility of all” (2007) the author says “starvation is the greatest threat to children's survival. Even the number of children with these three diseases put together is still smaller than the number of starving children! It is this reality that has become of deep concern to many parties” (para.3). Starvation is very big problems and we need to stop it.

Finally, sustainable agriculture not only gives people good and sufficient food, but also it gives them food with low price, it is reduce the price of food. If the food is founded and the people cannot buy its, then the food will decay. So the governments must support the farmers to sell their products in low price. Indian people, as an example, cannot buy expensive food; in spite of India as an agriculture country. People in many different capacities, from farmers to consumers want to have economic profitability. When the governments give water, chemical material, and seeds to the farmers in low price, they can sell the crops in low price since the cost is very low. In Berntell’s (2004) article, “Food Production should not degrade water supply” he states “Production patterns tend to undermine their own resources base and threaten the resilience of ecosystems which support them. For example, river depletion hurts fisheries and biodiversity.” (p.3). Food price inflation allows increasing the number of poverty population.

An opponent of sustainable agriculture that gives the people good, sufficient, and cheaper food is sustainable agriculture needs many sources to produce food. Some people say the sources do not available in all countries. Fore example, Jordan has not sufficient water and the farmers depend on raining for water. People said that sustainable agriculture needs more workers, seeds, machines, and more and more technology and all of these things demand high costs. They claim that if we require equitable control of resources and full participation, then we reach to the top. That is right, but where we can apply that? We can do that that in only 8% to 10% in the world because the authorities in most countries refuse that for variant reasons; political, socially, or economically. They suggest all people must be able to participate in the essential decisions that determine their lives, especially in the field or market. In Earles 's article, "sustainable agriculture:An introduction" he says "off the farm, consumers and grassroots activities are working to create local markets and farms policies that support sustainable practices. They are working to raise consumers’ awareness about how their food is grown and processed and how plants, animals, the soil, and the water are treated. And they are working to forge stronger bonds between producers and consumers that will cement the foundations of locally and regionally self sufficient food system" (p.2).

In conclusion, sustainable agriculture is ecologically sound, economically viable, and socially just. Sustainable agriculture presents a positive response to the problems of both traditional and modern agriculture. It seeks to take the best aspects of both traditional wisdom and the latest scientist’s advances. Sustainable agriculture gives the population the highest value of natural food. Rural areas become very rich if the population in these areas looks after the land, crops, and water. Land is very necessary in order for a majority of the world’s population to escape poverty and grow the food it requires. We think that at the same time, the right of landless farm workers and the urban poor must be recognized. Sustainable agriculture has many benefits: it gives us the good, sufficient, and cheaper food. We need these benefits to stay alive in this life. People cannot live without wheat, corn, rice, and many crops. They need plants wealth as they need animal’s wealth. Sustainable agriculture is one that produces abundant food without depleting the earth’s resources or polluting its environment. It is the agriculture of social values. We think in the 21’s century, sustainable agriculture is still in its infancy more than any model farm economy.

Dinner

My favorite dinner is meat with rice and yoghurt. I like Arabian food. I have liked this kind of food for many years because I have lived in Arab countries for 40 years. This kind of food gives me those proteins and carbohydrates that I need to stay alive. My favorite dinner name in my country, Jordan, is al mansef, an Arabic word. I prefer this food and I eat it with my hand, not with a spoon. In Jordan, this kind of food is the popular food. In any big party, especially in a marriage celebration, the people eat al mansef. Here in the USA, we can make this kind of food as much as we have time to make it. This kind of food requires at least two or three hours to be ready. If anyone asked, what is the most popular food in Jordan, the answer is easy, al mansef.
